Varitronix has launched a series of TFT displays with FFS technology that offers a very high contrast image, at extremely wide viewing angles.
 
FFS is a new development in TFT technology that enables displays to be viewed at almost 180° in both axes, without the usual colour shift associated with TFT LCDs. The display can be viewed from almost directly above, below or from either side without loss of image quality. FFS TFT displays offer excellent outdoor performance, however there is also a superior level of the series called AFFS+ (Advance Fringe Field Switching +). The AFFS+ panels have the addition of internal micro reflectors, AFFS+ displays offer full sunlight readability. When viewed indoors (or in low light conditions), AFFS+ has a much higher contrast ratio than any Transflective TFT. It is an ideal solution for both indoor and outdoor applications.
